FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We are not a walk-in clinic, however we do offer same-day appointments for patients attached to our clinic. If you are not a patient of one of the primary care providers at CCH, please visit a local walk-in clinic. These can be located by using MediMap or Pathways Cowichan. Refer to our Patient Resources to get the links.

At this time, we are not accepting new patients. We are working to recruit new primary care providers so this may change. Please call the office or check the home page of the website for the most up-to-date information.

We do not provide after-hours care outside of hospital or long-term care. If you need medical attention after our regular clinic hours, please go to a walk-in clinic or to your nearest emergency department.

If you have a health-related question, you can call 811 and speak to a nurse for advice after hours.

If you have a medical emergency, please call 911.

The physicians in our office do not currently correspond with patients via email. With your permission, your physician and the office staff may send one-way documents to you for convenience and safety’s sake.

Please book your appointment for refill of prescriptions at least two weeks in advance of running out of your medications. If you cannot get an appointment in time to get your refill, please check with your pharmacy to see if they would be willing to advance you enough medications to get you through to your appointment.

Please do not call the clinic to speak with the front admin staff to discuss your test results. When your test results are received at the clinic, the doctor will review them. We will call you if a result needs to be discussed with you or further testing or treatment is required. Most people will not receive a call. If you do wish to discuss your results, please book an appointment with your doctor or our clinic nurse. You can also access your own lab results from LifeLabs on-line.

Please call our office as soon as possible to cancel if you will not be able to make it to your appointment. This allows time for other patients to access the care that they need.
